Awaken The Artist Art & Coloring Challenge – Day 5/21
I hope you had an enjoyable Labor Day Weekend! It was ok at my end creating art, running errands and taking care of my dog.
And making art and blogging of course!
So, I finally found some time in the evening to work a little bit more on this drawing. I started drawing on Facebook LIVE and about 27 minutes into the video it stopped.
I attempted to post the Facebook video but there is a technical issue with Facebook … it does not give me the ability to choose the embed code. Technical glitches are fun aren’t they? Oh well. I am not going to let a little technical glitch rain on my parade.
So good thing I have a short video from Periscope to share with you.

Awaken The Artist 21 Day Art & Coloring Challenge – Day 4/21
Today I created a “sign” on Periscope that I can display when I am on this platform when people join in and I am busy creating art. I enjoyed good conversation with a couple of other artists and excited about creating community there.

Awaken The Artist Art & Coloring Challenge – Day 3/21
A couple of weeks ago I asked if any of my Facebook friends would like a goddess drawing and I had five courageous volunteers!
This is goddess drawing number 2 of 5 for my friend Jillian Coleman Wheeler. Jillian is an amazing person and a great writer and I am honored to create this drawing for her.
The video stopped in the middle and I picked it up again immediately after. Technology!!
I’m not quite done and will work on this tomorrow. The intention is to finish all the art I start and it’s okay if I work on it in two or three parts! I’m enjoying the journey.
Today’s Video on Periscope
I talked a little bit about what has kept me from creating art and what I have been doing about it. My art journey has been very interesting and has led me to helping others to awaken their inner artist. It was interesting on this periscope because there was a troll that told me that I should not even try to be earning money off of my art. I blocked him and then I told everybody else that had it been 5 or 6 years ago I would have taken that comment very personally.

I went on to say that over the past few years I have observed the making of art by so many artists and have been incredibly amazed at the different kinds of talent. I’ve compared my art to other people and I have sometimes thought my heart wasn’t good enough and other times I realized yes my art is good enough.
Really what matters is what I feel inside. I now allow myself to enjoy my journey… my creative expressive journey. I’ve come to the point where I love my art. Mostly I love the creation of the art and when I’m done I feel good. It might not be the Sistine Chapel Ceiling by Michelangelo and that’s okay! I’m totally fine with my own journey and I encourage you to begin your journey as well.
Listen to the video if you feel inspired to and start to ask yourself what’s keeping you from creating your art. It doesn’t matter what your art is … you are here to create. Allow yourself to create.

Awaken The Artist Art & Coloring Challenge – Day 2/21
Today I drew a Whimsical Tree on my Facebook personal profile page. The first video stopped in the middle (silly Facebook!) so I picked it up again on a 2nd video there. After that I did a bit more detail work on Periscope.
I am using this 21 day art challenge to experiment with more than one social media platform and get a better idea where and how to spend my time.
Sometimes I draw and talk and other times I speak only as I also have various processes and knowledge from my journey to share with people who are ready to get unstuck creatively speaking and make art for personal and professional reasons.

Awaken The Artist Art & Coloring Challenge – Day 1/21
Welcome to the Awaken The Artist 21 Day Art and Coloring Challenge.
Today is Day 1 and so far I’m having fun livestreaming from various social media platforms including my Facebook personal profile, Awaken The Artist business page, Awaken The Artist Art & Coloring Group (request to join), Periscope (wendygyoung) and Instagram (wendygyoung).
I am posting my daily livestreaming links on this blog so you will be able to see all the art I create for the challenge. To view the videos on these platforms it might be necessary to like or follow my pages and profiles. The links will remain visible until the end of September for sure to provide inspiration for your creative journey.
So if you feel the urge to create art and feel stuck in some way this is a great opportunity to jump in and get your creativity flowing again. I expect to be personally transformed in this process and if you jump in and really participate I expect the same for you as well.

Awaken The Artist 21 Day Art & Coloring Challenge
I know. It has been a long time since you heard from me.
All that family stuff made it so challenging for me to stay focused on my lifetime dream of ART creation. Plus my three decades of entrepreneurship was on hold so that I could tend to the needs of my mom.
Well, four months ago I moved my mom into memory care and she is doing well. I liquidated the contents of her house, helped get it sold and then took some time for rest while visiting my mom and squeaking in some time to make art.
Now I have time and energy to pick up where I left off and move forward with my personal and business life.
Tomorrow, September 1, 2016 I am launching my Awaken The Artist 21 Day Art & Coloring Challenge. I’m keeping it real simple.

Awaken The Artist 31 Day Coloring Festival
After many months of tiny baby steps in between taking care of my mother I am excited to serve. Tomorrow, April 10, 2015 is the first day of my Awaken The Artist 31 Day Coloring Festival.
I have found that our creativity needs a little help from our inner child. One of the first creative tools a child picks up is a crayon and blank paper or a coloring book. And when we are all grown up and find ourselves stuck from life’s numerous escapades the creative inner child is ready to step in.
Project Miscarriage: Birthing a New Reality
The other morning I was talking to my sister.
“What? You had a miscarriage? I didn’t even know you were pregnant!”
Then my eyes opened.
“What was THAT? Oh!! That had nothing to do with my sister!”
The dream was a symbol for the nightmare I had been living.
After selling my 17 year ergonomic business in 2008 I followed a calling. Over a period of years I created and offered a string of products and services and each time I began marketing them they flopped!
Every one of my project launches miscarried!
OMG. That really put things into perspective for me. I browsed my work and realized the massive amount of writing I completed. Sales pages. Optin pages. Thank you pages. Download pages. Video creation. Editing. Branding. Marketing messages. Social Media. Technical challenges. Family issues.
And then falling flat on my butt.
Doubt crept in and I lost momentum over and again. Sometimes I just wanted to give up. Does that sound familiar?
And then I realized the perfection of the entire experience.
I had been slowly dipping my toes in the water and building my confidence with each baby step and each success. One of my artist friends, Tara Dixon said “They are all baby steps.” … No truer words could be said about the process of bringing your dreams to life. We must keep going no matter what and eventually we will make great progress. The process of the work made me confront my deepest fears and beliefs so I could shift them.
The good news…
My art dream is beginning to bud. I love creating colorful art and I’m creating a new collection. 
I took my latest launch full term and we are almost midway through the course and my clients are experiencing transformations and I love serving them.
You see – a few years ago a coach told me to connect to my core gifts and that everything would spring forth from there. What gifts? What passions were at my core that I was not in touch with? These questions had me exploring who I am.
Was it easy? No! It was a slow and very painful process. I persevered on my own and eventually tapped a deeper understanding of myself and this changed EVERYTHING for me. Months later as I reflected on the previous couple of years I saw the processes I had been using on myself to heal and transform and own my artistic gifts.
I’m grateful for all the miscarried projects, birthing pains and successes. The lessons are now my teachings. I continue to do my inner work and transform my life as the unlimited being that I AM.
